New Georges, founded in New York City in 1992, advocates for an intergenerational ecosystem of exuberant theatrical minds, furthering fierce new works along with long-term wellbeing, expanding aesthetic boundaries and gender equity in tandem. New Georges has premiered 100s of new plays and produced 12 festivals of new work; many more have passed through The Room, our workspace, on their way to venues in New York City and beyond. The influx of New Georges artists into the field as a whole over the last 30 years has had marked impact on the representation of women nationwide in theater, film, television and arts education.

Among the amazing artists and shows nominated for Drama League Awards today, I am so proud that New Georges not only produced The Cotillion with The Movement Theatre Company (bravo to nominee Jehan O. Young!), but also closed the funding gap to remount Grief Hotel at the Public Theater so more people could see nominees Liza Birkenmeier & Tara Ahmadinejad's unforgettable production (bravo!), as produced by Clubbed Thumb. Susan Bernfield & Jaynie Saunders Tiller continue to lead the way at New Georges by working in nimble, adaptable models that create abundance & opportunities for theater makers. It's beautiful to see the fruits of their labor. Congratulations to all the nominees!
