New Futures

New Hampshire's #childcare system is in crisis. Child care is not affordable for most families, and the industry is struggling to recruit and retain employees due to low wages and high operational costs. This past year, New Futures increased our capacity in early care and education, building on our work to ensure that every #NHfamily has access to quality, affordable care, supporting both the growth of our children and the strength of our workforce. High-quality child care keeps children safe and healthy. Together, we will continue to work toward a healthier, more equitable future for all Granite Staters.

“Relocating to or remaining in the Granite State may be financially impossible for young individuals and families due to our high cost of living, including record-breaking single-family house prices and high child care costs.” A hypothetical family with two working parents and two young children would need about $2,710 weekly, or $140,900 annually, to live in the Granite State. ?? For the past five years, New Futures has partnered with Kearsarge High School to offer a Leaders in Advocacy Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO). Students in this program dive into the legislative process in New Hampshire and learn how they can use their voices to make positive change in our state. At today’s ELO class, we were joined by Courtney of ACLU of New Hampshire, Holly and Sam of NAMI New Hampshire (National Alliance on Mental Illness), and our very own Emma Sevigny to discuss policies impacting our rights, mental health, and children's social and emotional health here in the Granite State.
