Using a Valid Business Reason allows you to "dig in" more on the first call, which shortens the sales cycle, and helps give your prospect confidence in their future ordering decisions. A question to all of the catering leaders and restaurant partners within the view of this post... Are you tired of so many catering messages? Hearing from too many experts? Is it overwhelming? Does it become 'noise' after a while? Instead of being helpful and supportive, are we venturing into a world of "Self Promotion"? Less interested in helping, and more interested in pitching? Being in sales, but also wanting to genuinely help - I sometimes find myself at a crossroads. Should I ramp back the "pitch" in my message? We do spend a lot of time offering advice and tools free of charge. We are running free webinars, and with our friends at Omnicart, have created a free catering website -- where you can come be a part of a community for absolutely free. But, we are also running a business, and I have a payroll every two weeks, so trying to find that balance is very important. So, here I am -- at a crossroads -- between wanting to apologize for myself and for that part of our industry looking to "make a buck" off of our restaurant friends -- AND -- wanting to let you know that we truly, madly, deeply want to help you grow. I think that we, as a group of catering leaders, need to be better. We need to skip the remedial suggestions. Give back more to the community. Take from it less. Leave it better than we found it. And check our egos at the door. That's my goal. It doesn't mean that you won't see my logo 3-5X/week (lol), but it does mean that I will continue to find new and exciting ways to give my time, energy, blood, sweat and tears to you... with nothing expected in return. Without you -- none of this matters.

  • Hey, it's Abbie from NCC. People ask us all the time about how we go about determining who we will call. It's 'scientific', sort of. We use a combination of SIC (Industry Codes) and some filters (10 or more employees, 3-5 miles from a restaurant), a Catering Calendar (to tell us 'when' to call them), any local industries or business types unique to the area, along with any local events we can identify coming into your market. That combination gives us the very best chance to close orders faster, and generate long-term relationships. [email protected] to learn more
