What an Incredible Experience! I’m beyond thrilled to reflect on the success of the 2024 New Castle County Chamber Women’s Leadership Conference, where over 500 incredible women came together for a day filled with learning, networking, and growth. From engaging workshops to impactful keynote panels, it was truly a celebration of women in business. This conference was exactly what we needed to reignite hope and inspiration for all of us. A heartfelt THANKS to all our speakers, panelists, award recipients, attendees and especially the Chamber team who made this event so meaningful. What an honor! I was so grateful to be one of the keynote speakers at the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce Women's Leadership Conference last week! This year’s theme, “I’M HER,” was a day filled with empowerment, connection, and inspiration with over 550 women in the room. In 2022- 38% of physicians are women and with persistent efforts, finally in 2019, over 50% of the entering medical class is and has been female. Yet, Black women are still less than 3% of all physicians. I am still #grateful to represent so many who paved the way before me and continue to find ways to pull mentees and #STEM girls and women into medicine. In leadership roles, we still have work to do to overcome barriers and #breaktheglassceiling. Only 6% of healthcare CEOs are black and less than a handful are black women-- out of over 6120 hospitals and healthcare systems. I am grateful to be in an organization that supports women in leadership roles at all levels from so many diverse backgrounds! After this keynote and event, I left with renewed energy, hope for future women leaders, new and old connections, and so much more to do! I'm H.E.R.! We’re strongest when we cheer each other on.” Serena Williams Attending the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce Women Leadership Conferences was nothing short of embracing women leadership, supporting small businesses and passing the “I Am Her” flame to another strong woman! For a session I attended, the importance of DEIA lies in the equity not equality anymore. Representation is important for inclusion. And once we show up as who we ought to be, authentic and unapologetic, we create room for more diverse people to feel belong. Providing that space in the workplace is often overlooked when women are identified as statistics rather than valuable shareholder to a company. Once we dismantle that mentality, create a better foundation of change and model a culture add to the gameplan, the workplace becomes a place we enjoy going to rather than just a means to an end. Advocate for that change and be bold with it! Embrace the yes in life as what is destined for you will be for you and don’t let fear prevent you from unleashing your truest potential! Wow - what an honor to receive the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce Impact Award at this year’s 34th Women’s Leadership Conference! ?? The event was NOTHING short of fulfilling, fostering empowering connections and inspiring action. When I moved to Delaware in 2019, I saw a state full of endless potential. The narrative that “Delaware is boring” didn’t sit right with me—it’s a place where we can thrive personally and professionally. That’s why I started First State Destinations, to change how we experience the First State - support local businesses, and build connections that go far beyond state lines - we’re Delaware-based, not bound ?? This journey hasn’t been easy. But through moments of doubt and challenge, I’ve learned that purpose is stronger than any obstacle. My faith in Jesus Christ has been my foundation, guiding me with grace, courage, and an open heart to stay aligned with my calling. To my parents, who supported me even when staying in Delaware felt uncertain—thank you for believing in this vision. To our community, my seen + unseen collaborators, and the chamber for this incredible recognition—thank you for showing that together, we can redefine what’s possible. This work is more than just showcasing things to do—it’s about uncovering Delaware, uplifting its people, and fostering a shared pride in this beautiful state. As I step into a new chapter—becoming a mother this March—I’m inspired to continue building a Delaware my child can be proud of, surrounded by innovation, creativity, and connection. Leadership isn’t about perfection—it’s about perseverance, community, and using your voice to make an impact. Let’s keep inspiring one another and moving forward—together.
