When I look at this picture, I see Wade Ivy in the top left, smiling because he hears community members, parents, and students talking with New Braunfels Independent School District educators about future-ready schools. Wade loves being a principal supervisor and district leader, so hearing a deep discussion on instructional philosophy excited him.
This picture came from a strategic planning session with Education Elements.
When I first reviewed the project plan with the NBISD team and showed all the community engagement touchpoints, Wade was a bit nervous because community-driven planning can be scary and leave a very qualified district leader feeling vulnerable. But he trusted the process, and after seeing this picture and watching Wade during our session today as we put the finishing touches on the plan before it goes to the Board next week, I think one skeptic turned believer. I can’t wait to see what Wade and the rest of the NBISD team do next with the direction set by their community.
