Since 2003, Nevins Consulting has supported leaders in accelerating the development and effectiveness of their people, teams, and organizations. As a boutique consulting firm, we specialize in the following areas: ? Executive Coaching and CEO Advisory ? Executive Team and Board Alignment ? Leadership and Organization Development Our clients have always said that what they most value from us, beyond our deep expertise and commitment to great results, is that we take the time to understand their needs, their particular situation, and their ambitions. At Nevins Consulting, we consistently find ourselves guided by a handful of beliefs, values, and passions: - We collaborate with our clients to develop creative solutions that exactly meet their needs. We are constantly learning, and we appreciate that no two organizations are alike, so we don’t offer “off-the-shelf” products or solutions. - We know that capabilities such as self-awareness, influencing, engaging and managing stakeholders, and fostering dialogue are critical for motivating people and driving results. “The soft stuff is the hard stuff.” - We believe that “doing” and learning experientially are critical to improving performance and changing behavior. You can’t learn solely by reading about it. - We feel that management fads can be counterproductive, and that “cookbook” approaches to leadership or organization development don’t really work. - We view complexity, conflict, and risk as natural parts of life, both within and outside business—therefore we place the highest value on honesty, transparency, and trust. If you have a challenge or problem you’d like to discuss, we are always open to a conversation. Please contact us: [email protected]

Generally good advice. The first person I ever hired, 25 years ago, was a horrible fit but a wonderful person. I should have invited them to a dinner party not offered them a job. BUT it was a very useful lesson and one I have not forgotten
Hire more people who don’t remind you of yourself. They could be just what your company needs.

Our colleague Mark Nevins flags the excellent new book, SUPERHABITS by Andrew Abela, which will help you anchor your purpose as a leader (or human) in timeless values. It may be exactly what you need to read this summer.
Upgrading the human operating system by cultivating superhabits, one life at a time, as Dean and Professor, Busch School of Business | Harvard University faculty affiliate | Superhabits author | Forbes contributor
Mark Nevins is a gifted leadership coach whose wisdom has guided me at various critical points in my career. He is co-author, with my friend John Hillen, of What Happens Next: Reinvent Yourself as a Leader Before Your Business Outruns You. The book is the best I've ever read for experienced leaders who are stepping up to their next big challenge. (As soon as I finished reading it, I emailed John and said "you need to introduce me to this Mark Nevins guy, right now - I have to talk to him!") Mark wrote a beautiful endorsement that really gets to the heart of my forthcoming book, Superhabits: “A great deal has been written recently about ‘the power of habit,’ but much of that advice comes up short because it focuses only on the ‘how.’?Breaking old habits and building new ones doesn’t mean much if you don’t know why you’re making these changes, and what new habits you should be developing. In Superhabits, Andrew Abela makes a compelling case for (re-)anchoring habits and behaviors in a deeper understanding of timeless wisdom, essential values, and humane ethics.?Erudite but delightfully readable, Super Habits should be read by anyone stuck in the rut of unproductive habits and, even more so, anyone who wants to live a richer and more flourishing life.”

Excellent thoughts from the Harvard Business Review on how to balance enthusiastic assertiveness with prospective and reflectiveness.
Rather than simply getting better at what they already do, transformational leaders balance courage and humility in order to grow and develop every day.

Effective #onboarding is so critical, and yet organizations often pay too little attention to it. As well as with employees, organizations must onboard their #boardofdirectors members--to enable them perform their #governance duties more effectively. Our colleague Melanie Hughes has some excellent advice on this topic in her latest article for Forbes: https://lnkd.in/egq356EQ
