Too many working and returning students in California’s community colleges are earning multiple associate degrees but never reaching their goal of a bachelor’s degree. They aren’t getting enough guidance, they’re exhausting their FAFSA resources, and they’re still hitting career roadblocks. This issue is one of the driving forces behind Never Too Late Project. A 2017 study by the Campaign for College Opportunity found that: ? Only 4% of community college students transfer within two years. ? By six years, only 38% have transferred. ? UC transfers take an average of 6.4 years to complete their bachelor’s, while CSU transfers take 7 years. With California projected to be 1.1 million bachelor's degrees short by 2030, we must do better. Never Too Late Project developed a curriculum specifically for working, non-traditional, and returning students to help them successfully transfer to a four-year institution—because I navigated this journey myself. If you have ideas on how to get this information to adult learners, I’d love to connect. Message in the comments below. Let’s ensure education truly works for everyone. #HigherEd #CommunityCollege #TransferStudents #AdultLearners #NeverTooLate

? Had a great time at Making Waves Academy in Richmond, CA, speaking with 9th-12th graders about their future academic and career goals during the 2024 Fall Career Fair! ?? Sabrina Raphael, MBA, PMP, discussed topics that included: ?? How to land a first job ?? Managing work and college simultaneously ?? Breaking into industries like fashion, game design, and more Advice and actionable next steps with students who are beginning to think about their futures and career paths. It's rewarding to work with such a range of individuals, from junior high students to mid-career professionals. ???Mentorship has proven benefits: Students who meet regularly with their mentors are 52% less likely to skip a day of school and 37% less likely to skip a class. Moreover, 58% of young people say their mentor has supported their mental health, and mentored youth are 130% more likely to hold leadership positions.
