Earlier this week, we led an insightful and productive tabletop exercise for one of the largest multi-specialty medical groups in Michigan. NWG VP of Cyber Risk, Chris Neuwirth, led about 70 leaders through a series of hypothetical scenarios ripped straight from the headlines, and facilitated a great discussion about how different teams would respond. Participants walked away with a greater awareness of the systems and processes they're already knocking out of the park, as well as the ones where they have opportunities to strengthen policies, documentation and training. Some comments we heard: ?? "The presentation was fantastic. The contents were enlightening and surprising to say the least." ?? "A+ engagement. I feel more prepared." ?? "We'll be better off tomorrow after today's exercise." ?? "I've done a handful of these, and this one was the absolute best." We're grateful to lend our expertise, helping others level up their security posture. ??? As Chris said at the top of the meeting, "We get to take someone else's 'Terrible Tuesday' and turn it into planning and being proactive." #TabletopExercise #CyberSecurity #IncidentResponse #CyberResilience #CrisisManagement #BusinessContinuity #Preparedness

A new high-severity vulnerability (CVE-2025-0108) has been discovered in Palo Alto Networks (PAN) firewall operating systems. It impacts certain PAN-OS versions and is already being actively exploited. This vulnerability poses a significant threat to firewall integrity and confidentiality. Our latest blog post breaks down this critical vulnerability, its potential impact and the essential steps you need to take to mitigate the risk: ? Understanding the Threat: What is CVE-2025-0108 and why is it considered "high severity" ? Mitigation Strategies: How you can immediately limit your exposure ? Remediation Steps: How to identify affected devices and apply the necessary patch ? Proactive Security: Best practices for ongoing security management to minimize future risks Good news: If you're an NWG Manage customer, the risk of this vulnerability is low, as the mitigation strategies we recommend are already in place for any PAN devices we manage. However, patching is still essential. We're contacting all affected customers to schedule patching of this vulnerability. At best, incomplete or inaccurate penetration test results create a false sense of security. At worst, they cost you time and money on the wrong remediation efforts. High-quality penetration testing helps you zero in on your most pressing security risks, with practical, actionable recommendations you can put into play from day one. Our customers say it best. ?? ?? #CyberSecurity #Testimonial #PenTesting #EthicalHacking #SecurityPosture #CISO #ChiefInformationSecurityOfficer #Cyber

One common vulnerability our ethical hackers come across in Active Directory infrastructures involves the machine account quota attribute. By default, each standard user of a Windows enterprise network can enable up to 10 machine accounts. While this feature can be used legitimately by trusted domain administrators, malicious individuals can leverage it to bypass security measures. By reducing it to zero for standard users, you can make it harder for an attacker to escalate privileges and give defenders more time to respond. ?? Check out our freshly updated blog post to read our team's thoughts on how this control fits into your bigger defense strategies, and see additional hardening measures we recommend to help reduce risk. https://lnkd.in/gN-ZuTuu #CyberSecurityTip #CISO #CyberStrategy #ActiveDirectory #WindowsServer #CyberSecurity

Not all penetration tests are created equal. Raise your hand if you've ever had a pentest that: ?? Felt like the hacker was just trying to prove they could outsmart you ?? Disrupted your operations ?? Kept you waiting (and waiting...) for the report ?? Wasn't tailored for your specific environment ?? Left you to translate findings and next steps for execs There's a better way. Know what to look for in your next pentest by checking out our free (ungated) eBook on high-quality pentesting.
