At last week's Funders' Forum, we asked participants a few questions about their organization. One was focused on what funding needs their organization anticipates in the next 6-12 months. Almost 60% of respondents indicated that their organization needs help identifying funds to cover overhead and staffing costs. The second-most common response was funding for program delivery. This led to an impassioned discussion about securing holistic funding for your organization. In the words of keynote speaker Patrick Kirby, "No people, no programs!" Check out this article from National Council of Nonprofits on how the myth of overhead is changing: https://lnkd.in/gSBMRuR4.

Strengthening Nonprofits. Raising Awareness. Encouraging Community Involvement.
关于我们
NetworkPeninsula is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works to build the capacity of nonprofits serving the Virginia Peninsula by providing tools to help them fulfill their missions effectively. Our programs include continuing education, Board Training, networking, and information sharing. Our mission is to raise awareness of the needs on the Peninsula, encourage involvement from community members & strengthen nonprofits by increasing resources and opportunities available to them. We believe that a healthy nonprofit sector leads to healthier communities. Nonprofits are a valuable and vital part of every community and should be recognized and supported as such. They work tirelessly to address the issues and problems we see or read about every day. They have the heart, passion, and expertise needed to impact change in our communities. NetworkPeninsula helps these valuable organizations expand their reach out into the communities in which we live, work, and play. We do this by connecting them to individuals, businesses, civic and faith-based groups and to opportunities and resources that can help them meet the growing needs of our neighbors. Our vision is to create a Networked Community of stakeholders who understand the value of programs that strengthen and sustain local nonprofits. We hope you will join us in supporting the nonprofits and causes that matter most to you.

Want to know how you can help end human trafficking? Educate yourself. Then share what you learn with others. There’s no better way to educate ourselves on a topic than to learn from those who have personal experience. That is especially true when it comes to #humantrafficking. Thank you Elizabeth Scaife for creating this amazing resource and making it available for anyone who wants to better understand human trafficking and honor the brave men and women who have shared their stories. This holiday season, I encourage you to #shopsmart. Consider buying one of these books for yourself and gifting one to a friend or family member. Then find an anti-trafficking organization like Freekind in your community and get involved! Together, we can make #freedom, #hope and #belonging a reality for survivors of human trafficking.
Books by Survivors is back - just in time for the holiday shopping season! It’s been four years since I posted a list of 24 books written by Survivors. Since then, I have expanded my library extensively and created a beautifully designed resource for agencies and individuals. I’m proud to say that this is the most comprehensive compilation of books by self-identified Survivors ever released, containing 85 books and toolkits authored and co-authored by 75 Survivors who take the lead in sharing their own journeys of trauma, triumph, courage, and hope through their own lens and with their own words. I have learned that no matter how isolated we may feel in our own life experiences, the world is filled with individuals who understand pain, loss, grief, shame, and fear just as deeply as they understand hope, joy, faith, love, and determination. Tucked between the pages of our life stories lie the fruits of wisdom, strength, and courage that become the seeds of hope and healing for others if we are brave enough to share the bits and pieces of our chapters with one another. This compilation of works is dedicated to, and made possible by, the men and women who have prevailed through the challenges of writing and publishing these resources, mostly without financial or editorial support from any publishing or marketing team, while confronting and surpassing their traumatic experiences, and believing in their hearts that there was purpose in the process and in the end product. Their work has illuminated a path forward for Survivors and allies alike. Note: This resource offers a snapshot of the diverse contributions survivors are making in various fields from research and public speaking to advocacy and the arts, and it is my joy to release it into the world. I encourage you all to not only expand your libraries and generously promote the works of our friends and colleagues, but also follow the authors on social media, invite them to speak or consult, and, as always, support survivor-led organizations and/or the initiatives that uplift their work. Links to purchase books are provided on each page. Visit the FYN Global Resources page to download your copy and please share the link with your network. As new books emerge, this resource will be updated. Contact us directly with suggested additions for the next release. https://lnkd.in/eC3pqeBv

Volunteering, which declined during the pandemic, has risen again, especially in states such as Utah and Vermont, which have strong supports for nonprofits and volunteers. But volunteer participation at states like states like Rhode Island and Nevada have dropped below 20%. We report on new research from the U.S. Census Bureau and AmeriCorps. https://lnkd.in/erdvzg3u This article is part of a partnership the Chronicle has forged with The Conversation U.S. and The Associated Press to expand coverage of philanthropy and nonprofits.
