?? His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima are to pay a state visit to Kenya, at the invitation of President William Ruto. The visit will take place from Tuesday 18 to Thursday 20 March 2025. ?? This first state visit to Kenya is a reaffirmation of the good relations and solid cooperation between our two countries. The Netherlands seeks to engage in new partnerships in various areas, and to deepen the countries’ existing ties. Kenya plays an increasingly influential role in the global arena. In addition, the Netherlands and Kenya maintain close economic relations, and both are major hubs and gateways to large regions. Within the UN and other international organisations, too, our two countries work together actively towards goals relating to democracy, the rule of law and independence of the judiciary. The Netherlands and Kenya also work together on challenges relating to peace and security, climate change and food security. ?? ?? Economic missions focusing on sustainable agriculture and water will take place in parallel with the King and Queen’s state visit. https://lnkd.in/dXQdQq78

Proud of our collab with Fair & Sustainable Consulting??? At NGN it is all about impact with #insects! Right now, Everlyne Nekesa Songoi and Wouter Simons are?training 40 Kenyan farmers in an practical hands-on workshop on Black Soldier Fly #BSF feed production and foodsafety. The results speak for themselves: the chicks are already eating the freshly made feed, and the batches produced during the training have already been sold! Real #impact, real #results! ???????? Happy to look back at a succesful first year of Tanzanian - Dutch Cooperation supporting the Tanzania Horticulture and Potato Seed Platform (#THPSP). ?? The efforts aimed to strengthen Tanzania’s horticulture seed and seed potato sectors through capacity building and fostering strategic dialogues. With Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tanzania and Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO)
Final Reflection on the Impactful 2024: Strengthening Strategic Partnership between Tanzania and the Netherlands. I had the privilege of working closely with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tanzania to implement impactful initiatives through the Tanzania Horticulture and Potato Seed Platform (THPSP). These efforts aimed to strengthen Tanzania’s horticulture seed and seed potato sectors through capacity building and fostering strategic dialogues. Partners in this initiative is the Tanzania Seed Trade Association (TASTA) led by Mr. Bob Shuma and World Vegetable Center led by Dr. Gabriel Rugalema. 1.) Specialized Training on Safe Pesticide Use In collaboration with the Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority (TPHPA), we organized a two-day training focused on the safe use, handling, and application of pesticides. This initiative enhanced the knowledge and skills of 50 horticulture experts, promoting safer and more sustainable farming practices. 2.) CEOs’ Tax and Business Compliance Workshop Partnering with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Joseph Lyimo and Pamella Salehe we hosted a specialized workshop for 57 CEOs and senior managers in the agriculture sector. The session provided critical insights into tax compliance and key business issues, empowering top-level decision-makers with tools to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. 3.) National Budget Analysis and Regulatory Seminar In collaboration with PwC, we hosted a seminar to dissect the Tanzania National Budget 2024/2025 and discuss recent tax changes. Officials from key regulatory bodies, including TBS, FRF, TPHPA, TAEC, and OSHA, shared updates on compliance procedures, engaging 63 participants in discussions critical to enhancing regulatory understanding across the sector. My sincere appreciation goes to the Dutch Embassy in Tanzania Bart Pauwels, Theo Mutabingwa, Caroline Kibanga and John Mike Jager. Special appreciation goes to Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development led by Brigitta Groenland for continued support of the platform activities. I look forward to continuing impactful collaborations to strengthen the horticulture seed and seed potato sectors in 2025 and beyond!

#Kenya is home to more than 35,000 species of #flora and #fauna. However, the country's biodiversity is increasingly under threat from climate change, deforestation and agricultural expansion. These growing environmental issues form the backdrop for Capital Africa Agribusiness Ventures LTD managing director Bob van der Bijl’s ambitious landscape restoration project in Malindi. The model he is developing serves as a blueprint that can be replicated across Africa, where semi-arid climates pose both challenges and opportunities for reforestation. Read the complete article in the link below. This article is part of the 13th edition of the e-magazine Agrospecial, titled "Peace with Nature: Global Biodiversity Commitment" (originally published on October 9, 2024). https://lnkd.in/ePbMuBgq In this edition, the Netherlands Agricultural Network (LAN) explores the crucial role of biodiversity in agriculture and nature in the context of the COP16 of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Colombia. Agricultural Counselors from over 18 countries share their involvement in initiatives that foster the protection and sustainable use of biodiversity, highlighting the complex interdependence between biodiversity, water and soil management. In these efforts, cooperation, innovation and knowledge exchange are key, and LAN plays a crucial role in mainstreaming this global commitment. #biodiversity | #agrospecial | #COP16 | Ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur | Bart Pauwels | Angela S. https://lnkd.in/exKvdyax
