Yesterday I had the opportunity to share the stage with Benjamin Works, Tore Norheim Hagtun, Kyle Goodrich, and Mark Deverill discussing “Harnessing Data & AI: Bridging Maritime Defense and Blue Carbon Monitoring at TMA BlueTech? in San Diego with a heavy focus on dual-use innovation. Some brief takeaways from our panelists –??? -Tore discussed how at Clarify they are supporting the learning curve for operating companies around optimizing operations in green fuels as operators begin to shift and run these systems. -Kyle from TCarta discussed using satellite imagery for bathy data to help prevent accidents in shallow water but also as a way of reducing emissions by being able to minimize “mowing the lawn” as we say on the mapping side.? -Ben at Quartermaster discussed how within MDA (#MaritimeDomainAwareness) their company is providing solutions to crowd source data through an android app with a significant amount of experience supporting island nations to help combat challenges such as illegal fishing. -Mark discussed Spire Maritime’s role in supporting ends users in decision-making around everything from routing to commodities pricing globally. #DualUse #DefenseTech #MaritimeInnovation #TMABlueTech

Today, the ???? Consul General hosted a reception at her residence for Norwegian companies participating in the defense-focused LINC acceleration program – a program organized by Norwegian-American Defense & Homeland Security Industry Council together with Innovation Norway Americas and Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt - FFI. Three companies, UBIQ Aerospace, Skarv Technologies and Eelume AS, got an extraordinary opportunity to introduce themselves and their innovative solutions to a select group of investors, consultants, and other key figures ???? A networking lunch followed, with additional guests joining, providing an ideal platform for the norwegian companies to explore new business opportunities and expand their network in the U.S. ?????? It's hard to capture how a WISTA AGM feels different than any other conference until you go to one in person - I've always joked it's my favorite family reunion. So happy to have spent time with so many amazing women (and a few brave WISTA Mistas) attending the WISTA AGM and Conference last week on Cyprus, in celebration of WISTA’s 50th anniversary. The organization has grown to over 5,000 members globally in over 60 countries, with over 900 members in the US alone, representing every part of the maritime industry. This growth is a testament to WISTA’s continued impact and its role in empowering women. Thursday’s conference featured powerful keynotes from influential leaders such as Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides and IMO Secretary General Arsenio Dominquez. A topic that came up more than once including by the IMO Secretary General was “manels” (panels with only men) and the commitment he had made to not speak on any panels where women were not also represented.
