"I'm here to say to you this morning that some things are right and some things are wrong. Eternally so, absolutely so. It's wrong to hate. It always has been wrong and it always will be wrong. It's wrong in America, it's wrong in Germany, it's wrong in Russia, it's wrong in China. It was wrong in 2000 B.C., and it's wrong in 1954 A.D." -excerpt by Martin Luther King, Jr. Words from a sermon delivered at Detroit's Second Baptist Church 28 February 1954 On this Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I reflect on his timeless words: "Some things are right and some things are wrong. Eternally so, absolutely so." It was wrong in 1954, and it’s still wrong in 2025. Unbelievably, we are still fighting for basic human rights and dignity in a world that should have moved far beyond this struggle. But we will not give up. We will continue to fight—not just for Black people, but for all people and minorities who have been oppressed and continue to face systemic racism. We will stand up against the billionaire agenda that keeps people in poverty, systemic racism and the bigots that sustain it, police brutality, and right-wing extremism. Today, let us honor Dr. King not only with our words, but with our actions. Stand up. Speak out. Fight for justice for everyone. #mlkday #mlk #mlk2025

?? Happy Holidays, Hillsboro Community! ?? The holiday season is a time of giving, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support in helping the Black Advisory Business Council Scholarship Fund grow and thrive. This fund provides both academic and vocational scholarships for Black students in Hillsboro High Schools—students who dream big and just need a little support to reach their goals. This year, we’re inviting local businesses to join us in the spirit of giving! Here’s how you can help: ?Host a Donation Box: Place one of our holiday-themed donation boxes at your business. It’s a simple way to encourage your customers and employees to give back. ?Match Employee Donations: If your business offers donation matching, consider adding the BABC Scholarship Fund to your list of supported charities. It’s an incredible way to double the impact! ?Make a Direct Donation: Our goal is to raise $7,500 by the end of December to award two $2,000 scholarships in 2025 and to fully endow the fund. Every bit of effort brings us closer to making this happen. ?? Let’s work together to give the gift of opportunity this holiday season. To give online, visit: https://lnkd.in/gE7SAzaF Feel free to contact me directly here or via email at [email protected] if you’d like to get involved. I’d love to chat about how we can partner to make a difference for Hillsboro’s students. Thank you for your generosity, and may your holidays be filled with joy and kindness! hashtag#HolidayGiving hashtag#BABCScholarshipFund hashtag#SupportEducation hashtag#VocationalAndAcademic hashtag#HillsboroCommunity hashtag#GiveBack hashtag#WashingtonCountyOr

??? Your website is your hardest-working employee—don’t let it clock out early. These days, an outdated website is like a storefront with the lights off. I worked with a local travel agent who had a Wix website that couldn’t rank on Google and had almost no traffic. After moving it to WordPress, making it responsive, faster, and more modern, the results started rolling in. With extensive SEO work, the site’s traffic grew month after month, and inquiries followed. Here’s how to make your website work harder for you: 1. Upgrade the platform: WordPress is SEO-friendly and gives you the foundation to get found online. 2. Make it mobile-friendly: Your customers are on phones and tablets. If your site isn’t responsive, you’re losing business. 3. Speed is key: A slow site will drive visitors away. Make sure it loads fast, or you’ll miss out on leads. 4. Refresh the design: A modern, clean site builds trust. An outdated look can turn people off before they even get to know you. 5. Don’t skip SEO: Without SEO, even the best-looking site won’t get found. It’s a must-have, not a nice-to-have. Your website isn’t a luxury—it’s your front door. What’s the first thing you’d improve on your site?
