Originally established in Beloit's Merrill neighborhood, NWBR has expanded its priority areas to include the Hackett neighborhood. Over the years NWBR has created public, private and community partnerships that have helped to build healthier neighborhoods through education, counseling, lending and real estate development. NWBR is a charter member of NeighborWorks America, a national non-profit organization created by Congress to provide financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based revitalization efforts. In Honor of Black History Month, celebrate with us, the life and achievements of Dorothy Mae Richardson, an American activist, who championed neighborhood revitalization, challenged racial housing disparities, and changed a nation. Dorothy’s efforts were the seed that grew into the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 and the formation of Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation by the U.S. government. Changes are happening at NeighborWorks Blackhawk Region! We are excited to announce the promotion of Lizz Casey to the position of Executive Director! Lizz has served the NeighborWorks Blackhawk Region mission for 14 years, having held multiple roles with increasing responsibilities. During that time, her commitment to helping clients overcome barriers has opened doors to accessible housing for thousands of people. Lizz brings to the role an extensive expertise in affordable housing, program development, and community outreach. ? We also announce, with?mixed emotions, the departure of our long-time Executive Director, Joy Bosco. Joy has been dedicated to the mission of NeighborWorks Blackhawk Region for nearly 2 decades. During her 10-year tenure as Executive Director, Joy has been a passionate and purpose driven leader, committed to housing stability and affordability, and to helping build a community where everyone can thrive. ? Lizz will step into her new role on February 1st. Assisting with the transition, Joy’s last day will be February 28th. ? Please join us in celebrating the community impact of these two inspirational leaders with a congratulatory welcome, a fond farewell, and a salute to new adventures.
