Neighbors is a nonprofit, social-service agency serving the northern Dakota County communities of Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, Mendota, Sunfish Lake and Lilydale. Through the services of volunteers, area churches and the local community, Neighbors provides emergency and supportive assistance programs. Last year, Neighbors distributed over 1 million pounds of food through its food programs. Mission: Neighbors helping neighbors build stability to increase opportunity and well-being. Vision: Neighbors is a pillar of support and unity in our community and is well known as a place for individuals to turn to for help. We focus on meeting immediate needs while empowering individuals to move towards self-sufficiency. Core Values: Respect, Generosity and Inclusion

Yesterday I had the opportunity to volunteer for the afternoon at Neighbors, Inc. in the food shelf. Key Community Bank rotates having one employee volunteer in the food shelf every Thursday afternoon, and one Saturday a month. ?? ?? ?? It is an amazing partnership, and It is always an incredibly rewarding experience. It offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, providing them with essential support and nourishment. The sense of community and connection you feel while working alongside others towards a common goal is truly inspiring. ? I was posted at the check in desk yesterday and was able to greet everyone with a warm smile, a “how are you doing today?”, and sometimes a bit of encouragement. Some of the answers to my question that I heard were: * I’m terrible. Rough day! * I’m 105% tired. We had a fire at my apartment and all of my food is gone. * I have $50 to my name with no food and I need a tank of gas. * I just lost my job. I’ve never been here. I don’t know what to do. * I found you on the internet. Can you help me? * My Daughter needs milk. Do you have milk? My immediate response to all of these answers was “We got you. Here, let me help you.” ?? My heart was SO FULL after being able to assist so many beautiful people in need. Thank you Neighbors, Inc. and Key Community Bank for allowing me the opportunity to help humanity.??
