Recent studies have shown that 1 in 5 households in Minnesota face food insecurity. Within Dakota County, 6% of households are under the Federal Poverty Level and another 27% are considered earning more than the Federal Poverty Level, but not enough to afford the basics where they live. This group is what United for Alice considers ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households. The need for food assistance continues to grow. Learn more about how your contribution to Neighbors during this year’s Minnesota FoodShare campaign will go towards disrupting the cycle of poverty in our March Newsletter as well as the most up to date hunger statistics in our area: https://lnkd.in/gGcDDG5y

Despite the frigid cold that hit the Twin Cities this past Super Bowl weekend, we want to say thank you to all our volunteers, staff members, and donors who showed up for Neighbors, Inc.'s Super Bagging event that took place on February 8th and 9th at West St. Paul's Cub Foods! Volunteers bagged groceries for tips and customers also had the option to buy various bags of foods provided by Cub Foods to be donated to our Food Shelf. We cannot thank Scott Swenson enough for helping organize another successful Super Bagging event that not only supported Neighbors, but also the food shelves at 360 Communities and The Open Door.
