Urgent Action Needed: Protect Homeowners from Predatory Practices State lawmakers have sent Governor Maura Healey legislation that could shield BlueHub Capital, a Boston nonprofit accused of predatory lending, from lawsuits and consumer protection laws. This provision, buried in a $4 billion economic development bill, has sparked outrage. BlueHub’s SUN program resells foreclosed homes to original owners with “shared appreciation mortgages,” taking a portion of the home’s future value. Critics, including NACA CEO Bruce Marks, argue this exploits vulnerable homeowners. “This is the epitome of corruption,” said Marks. “If this flies, it shows that money and inside influence can buy immunity from any regulation or law.” ???What Can You Do?
