The Needham Community Council is a private non-profit organization which supports people in Needham who have under-met health, educational or social needs and promotes volunteerism, community and a sense of shared responsibility. The Needham Community Council has been helping Needham residents since 1930 with a wide variety of programs. We run the town’s food pantry; offer residents door to door transportation for medical appointments; sponsor a van service within town for residents to access the grocery store, banks, hair salons, etc.; provide visits to local nursing/rehabilitation homes; sponsor a free ESL [English as a Second Language] tutoring program for adults; sponsor the CAP Program [Child Assault Prevention]in the local elementary schools and have a huge holiday support program for residents. We also have a thrift shop where all proceeds from the sale of donated items stay in Needham and helps support our social service programs. We sponsor many projects with other Needham organizations, both public and private and are the host agency for the town-wide Needham Coalition for Suicide Prevention.

Announcing our NEW annual report. As we reflect on the past year, we celebrate the remarkable milestones we've achieved together. Our collective compassion, resilience and unwavering support have fortified our community. Amid challenges and triumphs, one theme echoes loudly: Strength in Neighbors. The Council has a wonderful team of Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Our neighbor Jill is part of that team! She has been a supporter of our organization for quite some time bringing in food pantry donations and proceeds from lemonade stands with her children. This summer Jill, introduced us to the Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation where we applied for a grant to support our mobile market. When school is in session, children have access to nutritiously-balanced meals and snacks. Summer can be more challenging with the loss of school meals and high food costs. Our mobile market ensures families have sufficient access to healthy food and snacks! Thank you, Jill and Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation for your generosity, for joining our team of Neighbors Helping Neighbors and for bringing joy to our community.

We are thrilled that over 3 million cans have been collected through our "Cans for Calcium" program, which donates all recycling redemption proceeds to purchase milk and dairy products for our Food Pantry. Jeff Dinneen and his crew of volunteers have raised $150,000 over three years through their recycling efforts - and we are very grateful. WCVB-TV spotlighted this program on the news last night.
