In recognition of Dr. Faith Schneider’s service as NOA president for 2024, incoming 2025 president Dr. Russell Crotty presented her with a commemorative plaque. The presentation was made today at the last NOA board meeting of the year. Faith, thank you so much for your leadership this year!

What a great week it’s been helping Nebraska school children to see better! A mobile vision clinic has made a difference in communities including York, Hastings, Shelton, Kenesaw and Grand Island. The clinics are made possible because of optometrists who have volunteered their time and expertise at no cost to help children in need of eye care. It was planned in partnership with the Nebraska Foundation for Children’s Vision, the Nebraska Optometric Association and VSP Vision Care, which provided a mobile clinic and lab for making eyeglasses onsite. Special thanks also to the Nebraska Department of Education and to the school districts that were instrumental in identifying clinic sites.

This week our members are providing free vision exams to children at several schools in Nebraska, in partnership with the Nebraska Foundation for Children's Vision. Yesterday we were pleased to partner with York Public Schools and provide exams for 57 students. Thank you to Drs. Faith Schneider, Amy Kadavy and Nancy Dob for providing the vision exams. Thank you to VSP Vision Care for providing the testing equipment and bus where glasses were made onsite and provided to students at the clinic. Thank you to Senator Jana Hughes for stopping by and learning about the school vision clinics. We are excited for the school vision clinics the remainder of this week in Hastings, Shelton and Grand Island.

NOA members had a great time on Friday, May 31st in Omaha at our networking event held at Annie’s Irish Pub in the Capitol District. Members were able to reconnect with colleagues while making new friendships as well. We especially enjoyed this opportunity to meet recent optometry grads returning to Nebraska and those beginning their residencies. Congratulations once again to them!
