The UNO Logistics Advisory Group met today at Truck Center Companies in Omaha. NTA president, Kent Grisham shared the state of trucking and the enormous impact of CDL holders and diesel technicians as well as the efforts the NTA has committed to workforce development. We brought the truck driving simulator with us to illustrate how we are reaching out to the next generation of trucking professionals. Today the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) honored the first-ever TCA Elite Fleet certified carriers at Truckload 2025 in Phoenix. Forty-seven truckload carriers earned this prestigious certification, recognizing them as the 2025 Best Place to Drive. Five Nebraska-based carriers were recognized including Chief Carriers, Inc., Fremont Contract Carriers, Inc., Grand Island Express, Hill Brothers Transportation, Inc., and Werner Enterprises. This new initiative, developed in collaboration with the University of Denver’s Transportation and Supply Chain Institute, aims to highlight North American for-hire truckload carriers that prioritize exceptional work environments, provide competitive compensation, and implement innovative practices to support their drivers.

NTA outreach spent the morning with students of Morton Magnet Middle School today. With the help of volunteer, Tim Zigler, we answered dozens of questions about the trucking industry and pathways for students to consider in their future plans. What a great day at the Citizen Carrier Enforcement Academy in Lincoln! Over 30 trucking professionals from across Nebraska joined us to learn firsthand about CDL compliance, enforcement procedures, and more at Nebraska State Patrol headquarters. In the afternoon, they visited the Waverly weigh station for an up-close look at how trucks move through the scales, experience a Level 1 DOT inspection, and see additional demonstrations showcasing NSP’s enforcement tools in action???? A huge thank you to the Nebraska State Patrol for hosting and to Crete Carrier Corporation for providing the truck and driver for the demonstration! These interactions help strengthen relationships and keep Nebraska’s highways safer for all! ????? #nothingwithouttrucking
