Great progress in Scottsbluff! Our team, including President Sandra Reding and Executive Director of Nebraska Tech Collaborative and internNE, Powered by Aksarben LaShonna Dorsey, had productive meetings with 6 Regions, One Nebraska leaders, Owen Palm and Zac Karpf, who are driving regional growth and talent retention initiatives in Western Nebraska. Their local efforts and progress are truly inspiring. We also connected with Western Nebraska Community College President Greg Dart and his team to discuss the ongoing partnership with WNCC, including the exciting addition of Katie Moser as a new regional coordinator for internNE, Powered by Aksarben. Katie plays a dual role as career services specialist at WNCC and a bridge between local employers, students, and the internship grant. WNCC has awarded two STEM scholarships through the Aksarben Foundation, as the program now extends to all Nebraska community colleges, along with Iowa Western, and the TeamMates Mentoring Program. Katie hosted a fantastic evening social hour, where we met with business leaders to share insights about Aksarben, internNE, Powered by Aksarben, and the innovative career readiness and internship pilot she’s spearheading. A highlight of the evening was hearing from Anthony Gurrola at Twin Cities Development about his success using the internship grant to hire local talent.
