Formed in 1982 as the area’s first integrated health system, we set out to establish a level of care and quality that is second to none. Methodist Health System includes four hospitals, the region’s only campus dedicated to women’s health, over 800 licensed beds, over 1,000 physicians and nearly more than 30 clinic locations with over 25 specialties across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. We’re also proud to serve our communities with a nursing and allied health college, a medical supply distributorship, and a central laundry that serves health care systems in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. In an emergency drill Thursday, Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs simulated their responses to a multi-casualty full-scale disaster event. Along with police, fire, emergency management and 911 dispatch personnel, hospital staff responded to a hypothetical chemical explosion in the community. At Jennie Edmundson, staff triaged and treated 20 volunteer patients from Nebraska Methodist College for a range of injuries, including chemical burns and respiratory issues. Staff also practiced using eco-friendly decontamination tools from our partner EcoSolutions, Inc. Behind the scenes, staff practiced coordinating hospital supply and staffing details, prepared a range of disaster communications, and met after the event to discuss how the response could be improved. So that if a real disaster occurs, we’ll be ready to act quickly and show the community ?????? ?????????????? ???? ????????.
