Rise and shine! #Changemakers2024 is officially underway! We would like to thank all of our sponsors who are supporting our mission, with some enjoying catered breakfast on site! This morning, we're diving into conversations about how building stronger families and communities is key to shaping Nebraska's economic future. Thank you to our panelists K.C. Belitz (Director at Nebraska Department of Economic Development), Amanda Jurek (Workforce Recruiter), and Jennifer Skala (Executive Vice President, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation) along with moderator Dr. Lawrence Chatters (Director of Community Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln) for sharing their valuable insights. We also look forward to honoring a Nebraska changemaker with the Grace Abbott Award, celebrating a legacy of advocacy for children and vulnerable communities. Cultivating the good life for ALL of our children.
关于我们
**IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE APPLY FOR ALL POSITIONS THROUGH OUR POSTS, NOT THROUGH THE LINKEDIN-GENERATED JOBS. Nebraska Children’s mission is to create positive change for children through community engagement. Working with local, state, and national partners, Nebraska Children cultivates the good life for all of our children, from cradle to career. We envision a Nebraska where all children have the resources and support needed to realize their full potential. Nebraska Children and Families Foundation has a unique approach to solving large, complex social issues that affect our state’s children. It’s based on two core beliefs: 1. Prevention works. It’s the most effective and fiscally responsible approach for addressing complex social problems. 2. Channeling a community’s existing resources toward a common goal will maximize their effectiveness. Every initiative we undertake aligns with these principles. Our programs are preventive in nature, designed to keep children out of the welfare and criminal justice systems from birth through age 24. And our approach encompasses all the resources a community has to offer, helping to ensure community ownership of the process and outcomes. The end goal is to prepare all of Nebraska’s children for success in school and in life.

Recently, program leaders, staff, school administrators, and many more attended the Get Connected conference in Kearney, Nebraska. The event was hosted in partnership with Nebraska Department of Education, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Beyond School Bells, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, and Nebraska 4-H Extension focused on out of school time for Nebraska youth. Thank you to Jeff Cole of Beyond School Bells and Brian L. Maher, Commissioner of Education, Nebraska Department of Education for kicking off the day. Attendees were treated to an inspiring keynote by Stephanie Malia Krauss, social worker, educator, and author of Whole Child, Whole Life. Thanks to the generosity of Children's Nebraska, each attendee received a copy of her book! The sessions were packed with valuable insights covering literacy, entrepreneurship exercises, engineering, recruiting staff, robotics, relationship building, and more.
