Meet February Carpenter of the Month, Bryon Whitaker! Carpentry is a passion for Lead Carpenter Bryon Whitaker. After a recommendation from his best friend, he was curious about the culture and family at Neal’s. “This is my 8th year and got started here at Neal's 3 days after my 21st birthday,” he says. Bryon says he’s thankful for the learning opportunities he has had at Neal’s. “When I first began in the business with Neals, I was assigned to help frame some walls in our new warehouse. With little to zero experience, I was eager to learn. I was taught the basics of framing those next few days with a longstanding and skilled craftsman of ours, Ken Murray,” he says. Even today, he has the chance to hone new skills. “Last year I had the opportunity to conduct and build a garage addition. This was my first full experience with an addition and with the help of the skilled guys here, and the support team from our office, we were able to make a first time experience for myself and the client, as smooth as a project could be!” When asked what his favorite skill is, he goes back to the fundamentals of framing. “I would say my favorite carpentry skill is framing. I believe that the more knowledge I can gain from a framing aspect, the more I can apply to each of my projects, as well as making my own home as beautiful as I can.” With Bryon’s positive attitude and reputation for being a quick learner, it’s no wonder he’s thriving at Neal’s, even earning our internal employee award, The Paul Whitrock Award, in 2023. “Being a Lead Carpenter at Neals has afforded me the opportunity to meet and learn from so many amazing people,” he says. “Our Clients, our staff, and the people we run into and talk with on a weekly basis are the main reason I love coming to work.
