???Servant Leadership in Action!??? The Office of Military and Veterans Affairs is incredibly proud of Brandon Santiago, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and second-year student at Notre Dame Law School, for his outstanding work and servant leadership during Student Veterans of America's Washington Week 2025. Brandon exemplifies the values we hold dear at the University of Notre Dame as he advocates for veterans on Capitol Hill, meeting directly with elected officials to champion policies that support student veterans nationwide. Representing the heart of our Catholic tradition and the "Different Kind of Lawyer" philosophy, he continues to make a meaningful impact far beyond the classroom. Washington Week allowed Brandon to connect with fellow veterans, grow his understanding of public policy, and meet Notre Dame alumni like Rep. patrick fallon (ND '90) and Rep. Rudy Yakym III (ND EMBA '19) to further the mission of supporting veterans. Thanks to the Notre Dame in DC team for their coordination and support throughout Brandon's visit! Join us in celebrating Brandon Santiago, a true ambassador for our university and a servant leader making the world a better place for service members, veterans, and their families. From the Soccer Field to the Armed Forces to the Business World! Meet Erin Stevens—a former D1 soccer athlete, Air Force officer, and current Notre Dame MBA candidate—whose story exemplifies the values of God, Country, and Notre Dame. A night to remember! Last Wednesday, we had the distinct privilege of hosting Adam Driver for a remarkable dinner conversation with our military-connected students. The evening, held at the University of Notre Dame's stadium at Seven on 9, exemplified the university’s commitment to the principles of "God, Country, Notre Dame" as well as to elevating the ethos of servant leadership. It was inspiring to hear how Adam, who served as a Marine before his journey through Juilliard and Hollywood, connected with our students, sharing stories of resilience, academic pursuit, and perserverence. These students, who already represent the very best of Notre Dame as they marry service to country with academic pursuits, brought their own unique insights and experiences to the conversation. To our students: you were the heart of this event. Your stories and dedication are a testament to the strength of our Notre Dame community. #NotreDame #GodCountryNotreDame #ServantLeadership #MilitaryConnected #AdamDriver

?? Supporting Mental Health and Suicide Prevention at Notre Dame ?? The Office of Military and Veterans Affairs (OMVA) is proud to partner with the University Counseling Center (UCC) on the ND Cares project, funded by a Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant. This initiative reinforces Notre Dame’s commitment to supporting mental health and well-being for all students, including military-connected students. ND Cares Goals: ? Implement a zero-suicide framework with early intervention, enhanced screenings, and timely referrals. ? Foster a culture of care and awareness, ensuring all students feel supported and valued. OMVA’s Role: ? Offer mental health outreach to 591+ military-affiliated students, including 280 ROTC students. ? Partner with VA resources to expand support. ? Reduce stigma around seeking mental health care. “Through this partnership, we aim to create an environment where military-connected students feel empowered to access the resources they need to thrive holistically,” said Ken Heckel, OMVA Director. Did you know? ??43% of Notre Dame students believe the University can improve its mental health efforts. ??38% say the campus climate doesn’t encourage open mental health discussions. ND Cares addresses these concerns with peer-support programs, mental health literacy efforts, and online training for faculty, staff, and students. Let’s build a stronger, healthier Notre Dame! #NDCares #GodCountryNotreDame
