Many people don’t realize that there are so many options for any person of any level of disability to increase their independence and safety. These options come in the form of assistive technology (AT). Assistive has taken on the responsibility of getting this technology to those who really need it. We are the only program in the state of this kind, and we have made it our passion to close the gap between ability and disability. As the primary AT resource in the state, we are constantly following advances in the field so that we have the expertise to consistently provide comprehensive, quality AT services. The devices that we provide can cover a broad range of needs. This includes assistance in the classroom, the community, and at work, as well as technology to allow those experiencing the effects of aging to safely remain living in their own homes. Providing funding and distribution programs is another integral segment of our organization. We feel that all state residents should be given the opportunity to learn about, try, and afford AT devices.

Amber grew up in Williston and brings over a decade of experience as an Occupational Therapist, supporting people across various settings in North Dakota. She’s excited to join ND Assistive and make a difference across the state! Outside of work, Amber and her fiancé keep busy with their energetic three-year-old daughter, Graycen, and their mini golden doodle, Aspen. Summers are spent camping and boating on Minnesota’s lakes, and when she’s not on the water, you might find her on the golf course or playing tennis and softball. We’re thrilled to be a part of this incredible project!
October is #NationalManufacturingMonth, and it’s also #NationalDisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth! Today, we are announcing a project that will have huge impact on both. Bismarck State College has been awarded $9.9 million from the U.S. Department of Education’s Disability Innovation Fund to launch the XR for VR project, a pioneering collaboration aimed at improving employment outcomes for youth and adults with disabilities. This project is a collaboration across several partners, including CareerViewXR, Impact Dakota, ND Assistive, LAB Midwest, CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology), and Immersive Reality USA.
