Yesterday, in collaboration with the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the World Affairs Council of Miami, and the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Miami, we held a public discussion at Books & Books on the relations between the #US, #China, and #Taiwan heading into 2025. Our Associate Director of National Security Policy Leland Lazarus sat with Dr. Tony Kuo, Office of International Affairs Dean at Shih Chien University, and took questions from guests. Day one of our U.S.-China People's Dialogue, co-organized by the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and Tsinghua University's Center for International Security and Strategy, launched on November 21, 2024 in Beijing. Bringing together U.S. and Chinese citizens involved in the forefront of U.S.-China relations from a variety of fields, the first day of panels focused on discussing the value of and challenges to bilateral connections in tourism, AI, culinary arts, business & investment, and sports. Amb. Charlene Barshefsky, former U.S. Trade Representative and current chair of the National Committee and Amb. Fu Ying, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Australia, and the United Kingdom, Stephen Orlins, president of the National Committee, and Zhu Min, former Vice President of People’s Bank of China and former Vice President of the International Monetary Fund kicked off the program with an opening panel at the welcome dinner on November 20. Attendees also heard from Yao Ming, former president of the Chinese Basketball Association; Logan Tom, vice president of player personnel and vice president of player personnel for the U.S. Pro Volleyball Federation; Gong Jiong, University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) professor; David Moser, associate professor at Beijing Capital Normal University, and many other leading voices in the U.S.-China relationship.
