Last week, NCT9-1-1 proudly graduated 14 telecommunicators from Regional Telecommunicator Academy (RTA) Class #018! These recruits, representing 9 different agencies, have completed an intensive four-week program preparing them for the critical role of answering emergency calls. Texas is the only state that requires 9-1-1 telecommunicators to be licensed alongside peace officers and jailers, and NCT9-1-1 hosts the only 9-1-1 telecommunicator academy in the state! Our next Headset Hero spotlight is on Jeremy Williams, of the Parker County Hospital District. On September 11, 2024, Jeremy answered a call that would make all the difference—a patient had fallen at home, and Jeremy quickly recognized they were in cardiac arrest. Without hesitation, he provided lifesaving CPR instructions, coaching the caller through chest compressions until paramedics arrived. Thanks to Jeremy’s quick thinking and the incredible teamwork of the responding crew, the patient survived.
