Over the summer the Global One Health Academy launched a new initiative – the Grand Challenges Addressing Program (GCAP) – to address wicked problems that demand an interdisciplinary approach. The first GCAP is targeting the silent pandemic of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) at the human-animal-plant-environment interface. ?? Study Abroad Opportunity! ?? Experience Prague through the lens of One Health with Summer II study abroad course, GOH 302: Global One Health Applications. This program applies the One Health framework to real-world global health challenges through field-based learning and interdisciplinary engagement. You’ll participate in immersive field visits, examining issues such as emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and the health impacts of climate change. These hands-on experiences and interactive learning sessions will challenge you to think critically about the many factors that influence health outcomes across different domains. ?? Scholarship funding is available to support travel. Applications must be in by November 15 and can be submitted before finalizing the program application. ??? Organized by the Citizen Science Campus and sponsored by the Global One Health Academy, these microgrants are designed to jump-start research projects led by students in the Participatory Sciences Graduate Certificate. ?? Participatory science research supported by these awards could include projects that use participatory approaches in the research process, or research about participatory sciences as a discipline. Next Monday, September 30, Kerilyn Schewel, Duke University, will be presenting on ?????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ????????????: ?????????????????????????? ?????? ???????????????? ?????????????????? at the NC Biotechnology Center from 5-7pm. This lecture explores the complex intersections between human migration and health, a critical area of research in our mobile world. We will explore the social determinants of health across the migration journey and life course, health outcomes for mobile versus immobile populations, and key areas of intersection (e.g., infectious diseases, mental health, and maternal and child health). We will also consider methodological challenges to research with migrant populations and future directions for migration and health research.
