The 2025 Youth Leadership Forum delegate application is now OPEN! Applications are due no later than March 31, 2025! The 2025 Youth Leadership Forum (NCYLF) delegate applications are now open for youth and young adults! The event is July 26th through the 30th, and will be held at NC State University in Raleigh. The NCYLF is completely accessible and free to all participants. Any NC resident with any disability from the ages of 15-30 is encouraged to apply! NCYLF is a multi-day and overnight program hosted by the non-profit organization Youth LEAD NC that helps to foster emerging youth and young adult leaders, teaching them to advocate for themselves and in their communities. The NCYLF is unlike a summer camp in that it focuses its activities on developing leadership and communication skills throughout the week. It’s an opportunity to network, meet other people with varying disabilities, and share their perspectives and experiences with others. No worries, we don’t leave out fun stuff! The NCYLF aims to support today’s young people in their transition process. This can include transitioning from high school to college, college to work, moving out of parents home, or any other transition phase that may be taking place. The NC Statewide Independent Living Council (NC SILC) is thrilled to announce that the Administration for Community Living has officially approved our new three-year State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL). This plan, effective October 1, 2024, is a roadmap for expanding housing, transportation, employment, youth empowerment, and Independent Living services for people with disabilities across North Carolina. Crafted with input from people with disabilities, families, caregivers, and stakeholders, the SPIL reflects the top priorities identified through surveys, public forums, and comments.
