Great to see innovation in action at one of our member practices, Fred Hutch Cancer Center, highlighted by Eve S.! Their pharmacist-led prescribing of oral oncolytics is improving patient care and streamlining team workflows. This approach is a solid example of how pharmacists are transforming oncology care!
Lead Clinical Pharmacist, Hematology/Oncology at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center/University of Washington Medical Center
I am happy to share our newest publication, “Enhancing Multiple Myeloma Care: Implementation of Pharmacist-Led Prescribing of Immunomodulatory Drugs in an Academic Medical Setting,” was just published in Clinical Lymphoma Myeloma and Leukemia. I am so proud of our team and this project, which I hope represents a new evolution in pharmacist management of oral oncolytics. In our clinic, pharmacists not only provided comprehensive management for patients on oral oncolytics, but also prescribed the agent under their pharmacist license. This enables pharmacists to practice at the top of their license and connects patients with their clinic pharmacists. Better yet, we gave the care team 240 hours of time back into their month. Time that could be used to see new patients, patients with more acute needs, and helping the team focus on direct patient care tasks. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gweqY9nk
