?? Exciting announcement!!! ?? We've been awarded $7.5M per year for the next five years from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to continue building on the work we helped start back in 2013.
I am thrilled to announce that we at the NC Navigator Consortium have been awarded $7.5M per year for the next five years from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services! This support will allow us to continue our life-saving efforts by getting North Carolinians connected to Affordable Care Act Marketplace and Medicaid coverage through HealthCare.gov. This?grant is the second largest in the country awarded by CMS for the 2024-2029 grant period. This five-year grant period is the longest term awarded to date, providing more stability for Navigator assistance programs, Marketplace consumers and Medicaid beneficiaries.? The grant was announced this week by?CMS, a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will fund a corps of?Navigators who are highly-trained to help Marketplace consumers and Medicaid beneficiaries understand the details of plans available on the Health Insurance Marketplace at?HealthCare.gov, determine which plan will best meet the needs of their family, apply for financial assistance, and complete the enrollment process. Care Share, the NC Community Health Center Association and NC Navigator Consortium were honored to have NC Governor Roy Cooper and NC DHHS Secretary Kody Kinsley speak at our final Medicaid Expansion Regional Training in Haywood County. Medicaid Expansion in NC would not have been possible without the fierce advocacy of Governor Cooper and Secretary Kinsley, and their words of encouragement to enrollment assisters and community based organizations helping every North Carolinian who qualifies for Medicaid get enrolled were much appreciated! #ncmedicaidexpansion #healthjustice #healthequity

Last week, the NC Navigator Consortium, with our Triangle area partner Advance Community Health, welcomed Governor Cooper, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, Congressman Wiley Nickel and NCDHHS Secretary Kody Kinsley to mark three months since Medicaid Expansion was implemented in North Carolina. Since Dec. 1, more than 346,000 North Carolinians have gained full, comprehensive health coverage that covers doctor visits, specialist visits, prescriptions, vision, dental, all with $0 premiums and $4 copays. "There's peace of mind that comes when you can get the healthcare you need." Secretary Becerra said. Governor Cooper echoed this, emphasizing the transformative effect Medicaid expansion has had on access to vital healthcare services. During the roundtable, two new Medicaid beneficiaries explained how their health coverage is life changing, not only for them, but so many in communities across North Carolina. The NC Navigator Consortium is proud to spearhead Medicaid Expansion implementation efforts with Care Share Health Alliance, the North Carolina Community Health Center Association, and NC Department of Health and Human Services to connect all newly eligible Medicaid beneficiaries to quality, comprehensive coverage made available through Expansion.
