NCMEC’s Chief Legal Officer, Yiota Souras, testified at a House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee hearing regarding online harms and the need for the TAKE IT DOWN Act. In response to Subcommittee Chairman Gus Bilirakis' question about how the TAKE IT DOWN Act will safeguard children from online predators and support survivors, Ms. Souras detailed how the legislation addresses legal gaps to criminalize both real and generative artificial intelligence nude and sexually exploitative images of children that do not constitute CSAM and establishes a clear process for reporting and removing these images.
