This year’s NC League of Municipalities - National League of Cities events were fantastic! It was a privilege to meet with the City of Fayetteville’s congressional delegation about shared priorties involving economic development, transportation, public health and safety, and more. It is always an honor to work alongside local government leaders to improve their neighbors’ quality of life. It is extra special when they’re from your hometown and their neighbors are your family! So fun to hear Council Member Greene’s anecdotes from when she was a Clerk of Court in Cumberland Co. with my mom, and dad was a young Probation/Parole Officer who had just proposed. I remain grateful for every special opportunity.

Reflecting on my experience at the NC League of Municipalities Town & State Dinner last week. So many great leaders, public servants, and ideas all in one room! My favorite quote of the night, from NCLM President and Mayor Pro-Tem of Durham Mark-Anthony Middleton… “What is our democracy if not an unending discussion? We are invited to keep the conversation going… Remember that we are all nourished from the same table and drink from the same cup.” Stoked to have been at this table ?? #NCLM #MunicipalOfficials #NCGeneralAssembly

  • League RMS risk control consultants recently visited Maggie Valley and the Tuckaseigee Water and Sewer Authority for flagger training for water, sewer and sanitary employees. Flagger training is a program designed to educate employees on how to safely direct and control traffic in construction zones, road maintenance sites or other work areas where vehicles and pedestrians interact. It covers essential topics such as signaling procedures, safety regulations, proper use of personal protective equipment and communication with workers and drivers.

  • This month, several agencies have been formally recognized for successfully completing the League’s Law Enforcement Risk Review Process. This comprehensive process rigorously evaluates an agency’s adherence to best practices, policies, and procedures governing high-liability activities in law enforcement, demonstrating a strong commitment to operational excellence and risk management. ?? NCLM Senior Public Safety Risk Management Consultant Joseph Graziano presented the Albemarle Police Department (first photo), Beaufort Police Department (second photo) and the city of Graham (third photo) with a plaque to recognize the department’s accomplishment. Please join us in celebrating the outstanding work being done across the state by our member police departments! ?? ??
