Last month, 30 teachers from Wake County Public Schools spent two immersive days in Historic Halifax exploring “Freedom for All: Quests for Liberation in Halifax.” Thanks to America 250 NC Fellow Matt Scialdone and a grant from America 250 NC, these dedicated teachers experienced an enriching learning excursion! From a tour of Halifax's Underground Railroad Trail to a Friendship Dance at Magazine Spring, the workshop theme of "Freedom for All" was present at each moment. Big thanks to Historic Halifax, Roanoke Canal Museum, members of the Haliwa-Saponi tribe, and many community members for providing tours, info sessions, performances, and immersive experiences. Thanks to their efforts, our VIP teacher-guests left with a deep appreciation of this hallowed ground! #AmericanEducationWeek #NCLearningHappensHere #LearningHappensHere
