关于我们
The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization established in 1982. The NCCAOM is the only national organization that validates entry-level competency in the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) through professional certification. NCCAOM certification or a passing score on the NCCAOM certification examinations are documentation of competency for licensure as an acupuncturist by 43 states plus the District of Columbia which represents 98% of the states that regulate acupuncture. All NCCAOM certification programs are currently accredited by the National Commission for Certification Agencies (NCCA). All NCCAOM Certification Programs carry the NCCA seal.

The ASA and NCCAOM Town Hall “What Medicare and Medicaid Can Do for the Acupuncture Profession,” held on October 30, 2024, was a resounding success, drawing significant participation and interest from practitioners. The discussion covered essential topics, such as how expanded coverage could improve access to acupuncture services, the steps necessary for integration within government healthcare programs, and strategies for practitioners to navigate the changes that Medicare and Medicaid could introduce. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting the event’s value in clarifying complex policy issues and providing practical guidance. The NCCAOM was recently made aware of, and is deeply disappointed with the recent portrayal of acupuncturists on an episode of Dr. Odyssey, which depicted unsafe and unprofessional practices that misrepresent the integrity of our profession. Such inaccuracies risk creating misunderstandings about acupuncture’s safety and the rigorous standards that certified practitioners uphold daily to ensure patient well-being. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (AHM) Coalition for their swift and decisive response to these portrayals. Their proactive approach highlights our unified dedication to providing accurate, evidence-based insights into acupuncture practices. The NCCAOM, ASA, ACAHM, and CCAHM remain steadfast in advancing public awareness, safety, and growth within the profession. Together with our colleagues and partners, we continue to educate and foster a deeper understanding of acupuncture's valuable role in healthcare. Thank you to everyone involved in setting the record straight and ensuring a future where acupuncture is represented truthfully and respectfully. Read the full statement here https://lnkd.in/dyyjr7tE
