Proud of this new report the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence published this week showing the 5-year trend of North Carolina specific data on Domestic Violence (DV) services and statistics, including homicide, and the strain on resources that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have on the DV field. Last month NCCADV’s Nisha Williams and Lizzie Sager met with Akilah Davis from ABC11 EyewitnessNews?to share insights on a new?report from the United Nations on global rates of intimate partner violence (IPV) deaths and family member femicide. The UN report reveals an estimated 140 women and girls are killed daily by a partner or family member globally. This amounts to one death every 10 minutes. The Crime Victims Fund supports essential services for victims and survivors?of violence such as medical care, mental health counseling, courtroom advocacy, temporary housing and more.?Since 2019, the VOCA?funds release?annually have declined.?In 2024, North Carolina VOCA funding is projected to be $23 million, down from $42 million in 2023.?That is a $19 million cut that will immediately?negatively impact domestic violence service providers.??? ?
