Last call to register for an insightful 21st Century Lawyer program this coming Monday, November 18 at 12pm CT on how bars can enhance voter engagement through judicial elections ? While many bar associations actively support voter education and candidate evaluation, challenges like low turnout, ballot drop-off and limited voter knowledge persist. Our discussion will open with an overview of judicial election systems across the country, with an introduction by Robin Wolpert. Moderated by Hon. Peter M. Reyes, Jr., our panel--Miles Pringle, Jennifer Quick, and John C. Sciaccotta--will then explore effective strategies for bar associations to boost voter knowledge and participation. Learn about different models for educating voters about judicial systems, conducting candidate vetting, fostering public accountability, and partnering with local media and voter groups. Together, we can ensure informed participation in judicial elections and strengthen our democratic processes. This program is co-sponsored with NCBP by the American Bar Association Center for Bar Leadership and the ABA Judicial Division. Register now ???? https://loom.ly/9jHyBW0

Check out this Idea List for Lawyers Speaking Out During the 2024 Post-Election Period from the Divided Community Project's office hours last week: https://lnkd.in/g666UjbF This is a brief list of promising ideas for you, through president’s pages, speeches, social media, newspaper op-eds, interviews, CLEs and other modes, to speak out now to strengthen democracy and safety.
The Divided Community Project is offering virtual office hours on October 28th to discuss the potential for violence during the post-election period. From 3pm to 4pm ET, they will focus on how bar association leaders (and others) can supplement what law enforcement will do. They will discuss messaging and activities you may use to reduce the chances that members of your community will become victims of violence. Ahead of the office hours, the Divided Community Project will send a few of their ideas of what might be useful before and after announcements of election results. ? Thank you for sharing this important message, Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association! We encourage all NCBP members to have a plan to vote, if you haven't already.
Tomorrow is Election Day—a crucial opportunity for each of us to make our voices heard. Voting is both a right and a responsibility, and we encourage you and your families to participate, whether you’ve voted early or plan to do so at your local precinct. With this in mind, the CMBA continues to reaffirms our commitment to Democracy and the rule of law. We call on all lawyers to do the same.
