Congratulations to Anthony Brenes-Calderon and Josue Garita-Jimenez, two Auburn University graduate students working with NCAT, on earning third place in the Federal Highway Administrations' Long-Term Infrastructure Performance (LTIP) Student Data Analysis Contest with their research paper titled, "Holistic Assessment of Asphalt Pavement Preventive Maintenance: Determining Environmental, Economic, and Performance Benefits of Pavement Preservation Treatments." Their research evaluated the environmental, economic, and ride quality benefits of asphalt pavement preservation treatments across climates using data from the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) and NCAT Pavement Preservation Group Study, finding that preservation treatments improve smoothness and offer cost-effective, eco-friendly alternatives to untreated pavements. Anthony and Josue will be formally recognized for their achievement during the LTPP program session at the 104th Annual Transportation Research Board Meeting in Washington, D.C., on January 7, 2025. Check out what our amazing students are accomplishing! Congratulations to PhD student Elizabeth Turochy on her first author paper published in the Transportation Research Record! Click the link below to view the full study, titled "Design, Placement, and Laboratory and Field Evaluation of Rejuvenated Cold Recycled Asphalt Mixtures." https://lnkd.in/eFCD5GGf #NCAT | #AuburnUniversity
Proud to see my rockstar PhD student and Eisenhower Fellow, Elizabeth Turochy, had a first author paper entitled "Design, Placement, and Laboratory and Field Evaluation of Rejuvenated Cold Recycled Asphalt Mixtures" published in the Transportation Research Record today! This is on our first-of-it's-kind study looking at rejuvenating CCPR at the NCAT Test Track. Are we closer to maximized recycling with lower emissions? Yes. Cost effective? Yes. An opportunity to expand markets and give options for rebuilding pavements in under resourced communities? Yes again.
