Earlier today, we celebrated the 10-Year Anniversary of NCAA Employee Engagement Groups (EEGs), which have provided support and safe spaces for traditionally underrepresented groups and their allies. Take a look back at photos of our EEGs across these ten years!

While yesterday was Veteran’s Day, the NCAA recognizes all current and former military members who fight to protect our country, including one of our own Eric Brey, associate director of academic and membership affairs, is currently a commander in the Navy on active duty. Here are two of his favorite quotes, provided by his wife, Jana, and his son, Jacob. ? "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." —??Winston Churchill "This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in." —??Theodore Roosevelt His colleague Jennifer Smith shared some thoughts on Brey's deployment. ? What are Brey's roles and responsibilities at the NCAA? Eric works primarily in Division I academics. He provides support to the Division I Committee on Academics and is a staff liaison with the Committee on Academics Subcommittee on Penalties and Appeals. Eric also provides support to faculty athletics representatives through the Division I faculty athletics representatives institute conducted every fall. Is this the first time he has left for active duty? What was that conversation like when he told you he was going? Eric has had a few deployments during his time at the NCAA. Because he has had a few deployments, it was not unexpected, given the current events around the world. Eric is very matter-of-fact about his military service. He juggles the two lives very well, at least from my perspective. As his colleague, what does it mean to you to have a teammate who is in active duty? I am extremely proud of Eric and the service he provides to the country. While our team misses Eric when he is gone, we are all very supportive of the work he does for the Navy. Is there anything you want to say about Brey and who he is as a colleague and person? Eric is a solid person and colleague. He is someone who genuinely cares about the work we do in AMA and his colleagues. His wife and son are his main priorities. You should see how proud he looks when he watches his son sing! (He's an aspiring singer-songwriter.) We appreciate Eric's service and his commitment to our country and keeping us safe.
