I am conducting research for my Master's thesis and would love your participation! I am earning my Master of Science in Textiles from NC State Wilson College of Textiles and conducting quantitative research via a survey! This survey concerns Generation Z consumers' color preferences when purchasing upholstered furniture and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete! Eligibility for participation: - Born between 1997 and 2006 while also being 18 years old or older - Reside in the United States - Have no color vision deficiency (ex. color blindness) This is based on preferences and opinions, so no right or wrong answers exist! Wilson College of Textiles student Alexa Karrenbauer studied abroad at Lorenzo de’ Medici in Florence, Italy, to hone her textile design skills. Through her coursework while abroad, she learned about knitting, oil painting and sketchbooking! Exploring the intricacies of new mediums evolved her skills as a textile designer. Specifically, her sketchbooking class was a great way of getting to know Florence and finding inspiration through her creative expression. Studying abroad provides students with endless opportunities to learn new skills and about different cultures. Alexa expanded her scope by visiting London and Amsterdam too! Give it up for Associate Professor Bryan Ormond as he was invited to speak at the influential U.S. Fire Administrator's Summit on Fire Prevention and Control this October. This event, which reached an audience of over 4,000 viewers and featured prominent speakers including the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, brought together leaders and experts to discuss advancements in firefighter safety and risk mitigation. Associate Professor Ormond represented #NCStateWilson and was asked to speak about the state of science on firefighter PPE and exposures, with an emphasis of the critical findings on how protective equipment and exposure management can significantly impact firefighter health and safety. By sharing insights on recent research, Ormond is helping to shape the future of protective technologies and safety protocols, ultimately advancing firefighter well-being on the frontlines. Exciting news for the Wilson College of Textiles! Two of our amazing researchers, Assistant Professor Jessica Gluck and Assistant Professor Yang Zhang, will soon be part of the cutting-edge team in NC State’s brand new Woodson Hall! This weekend, our Ph.D. student Reid Barnett earned a big honor for his company, Ceretune LLC, at the Ocean Exchange, the largest international competition of its kind. We're thrilled to announce that he took home the Guy Harvey Foundation Award, along with a $10,000 prize!??? Out of over 150 global applicants, only eight were selected as finalists, emphasizing the incredible potential of Barnett's innovation: biodegradable fibrous aquatic bioscaffolds. This approach promotes plant growth on water, helping to remove nutrient pollution and CO2 while creating valuable biomass for fertilizer, agricultural goods and biofuels.

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Yang Zhang who received an NIH MIRA award for his proposal to develop next-generation fluorescent probes for functional and multi-dimensional single-molecule imaging!
