I had the wonderful opportunity last week to both attend the State Authorization Network (SAN) Implementation Workshop and meet with their office park-mates: NC-SARA, NCHEMS, SHEEO (State Higher Education Executive Officers Association), Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education. Talking with higher ed professionals working hard to ensure students are making informed decisions has been re-invigorating! Huge shout out to Cheryl M. Dowd, Dr. Jana Walser-Smith, Kathryn Kerensky, and Leigha Fletcher for putting on an extremely informative and productive workshop. Thank you to Marianne Boeke and her staff for setting up a space for me to better integrate into the community in my new role!

In this webinar, representatives from the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA) community provided an update on the U.S. Department of Education 2023-2024 Negotiated Rulemaking, with a particular focus on topics that may have the greatest impact on SARA. Spent this week at the NC-SARA SPE Conference discussing higher education policy and compliance, and the implications to institutions and students, with representatives from SARA states across the nation. Happy 10th anniversary SARA!

Honored to be recognized along with Cheryl M. Dowd by NC-SARA for our contributions to reciprocity over the years. It was a great meeting and a fun "denim and diamonds" night. Happy for Lanna Dueck and Sam Loftin too. They have done so much.

The final step in the 2024 SARA Policy Modification Process is for the NC-SARA Board to vote on the 10 SARA policy proposals the four regional compacts, through their regional steering committees (RSCs), have officially approved. During the public session, the NC-SARA Board will review these proposals in detail, consider their implications, and vote on each of them. Registration for the public session is open. The public session will be a live stream broadcast only and will not be recorded.

The recording of NC-SARA's Annual Data Report Release webinar is now available. This webinar shared the findings of the 2024 NC-SARA Annual Data Report, which represents data collected from more than 2,400 SARA-participating institutions. https://lnkd.in/gyrbaAzD

What a great SARA SPE conference hosted by NC-SARA. I had the wonderful opportunity to moderate a panel talking about the SARA State grants with my fellow SPEs (state portal entities). Also, I am truly honored to receive two Star awards! I am so very grateful. Special thanks to Marianne Boeke, Charlotte Ochs, and Alexander A. Nally. Looking forward to the exciting work ahead!

Last week, it was an honor to join Teresa Lubbers, Ken Sauer, and Kevin Corcoran at a dinner to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA). These agreements are critical in allowing universities like Indiana University to comply with state and federal laws while serving students from across the United States. Thanks to Marianne Boeke and her team at NC-SARA for putting on such a great event to recognize the state employees who put in the time and energy to manage these agreements! Truly, IU Online could not serve as many students as it does without this critical agreement!
