NC 211 was a valuable state partner during COVID-19, and its services continue to evolve as we work to bring more people online. North Carolinians can now dial 211 for help finding digital resources in their area.

From COVID-19 to Hurricane Helene, MANNA FoodBank - Asheville NC is once again overcoming historic challenges to serve western NC and fight hunger.

Did you know COVID-19 recovery funds are helping disabled veterans and their children and spouses afford college? The NC Patriot Star Family Recovery Scholarship recognizes the sacrifice of our military families and the additional hardship many faced during the pandemic. So far, 482 people have benefitted. An historic downtown revitalization project in City of Newton is now in its final phase, and already attracting private investment, thanks to the state's Rural Transformation Grant Fund. The North Carolina Department of Commerce first awarded the grants in 2022 to help communities recover from COVID-19 and build more resilient local economies. Applications are closed but as you can see, progress continues. Newton's streetscape project will be completed in spring 2025. Congratulations to the 7,000 future and current teachers who qualified for financial aid and free study materials to pursue their teaching licenses. One of the recommendations in Governor Roy Cooper's $3.9 billion hurricane relief proposal includes freeing up COVID-19 funds to prioritize broadband infrastructure that was destroyed or damaged by #Helene. Expanding reliable internet access became one of the Governor's top priorities after the pandemic, and this disaster has once again proven its necessity. The legislature meets tomorrow (Oct. 24).
