Meet Angela. She was in situation we've seen too often: being faced with the choice between purchasing medication or putting food on the table. As the cost of living climbed, Angela was trying to make ends meet and she wasn't able to afford her blood pressure medication. Then she was introduced to NC MedAssist. In a matter of days, we were able to enroll Angela in our program and ship her prescription to her home at no cost to her. "I was informed on MedAssist and I contacted them and they have been a prayer come true...relieved a lot of worries," she said. Thousands of NC residents experience this same dilemma. We're grateful for the opportunity to provide relief from the anxiety of not having the medication necessary to improve one's health. #NCMedAssist #dispensinghope #healthequity

For more than a decade, The Leon Levine Foundation has supported NC MedAssist’s mission to close gaps in health equity and provide life-saving resources to those in need. Once again, we are honored and immensely grateful for TLLF’s generosity with a $175,000 grant to help us continue improving healthcare access for underprivileged residents across our state. Thank you for helping us advance our mission to close gaps in health equity and provide life-saving resources for North Carolinians.

We're grateful to have a leader who is truly invested in supporting the people we serve; who meets them where they are, gives them the space to speak openly about their struggles, and strives to ensure they are heard, seen, and valued. "Everyone deserves compassion" is not a platitude; it's a mantra for our team as we work to help those facing obstacles to securing their medication.
Meet Cathy. She lives on the outskirts of Lexington, NC, and we were honored to provide her with free prescription medication when she needed it most. I recently spent half a day with Cathy, and during our conversation, I was struck by how much we had in common—I found myself saying, "Me too!" over and over again. And despite having less than $24,000 in income a year, her heart is still set on helping others. Our time together was filled with laughter, moments on the verge of tears as she expressed gratitude for my team’s care, and frustration as she shared the unkindness she faced when seeking help elsewhere. Her resilience and kindness are truly inspiring. Everyone deserves compassion. Let’s continue building a healthcare community where no one feels alone in their struggles for access to care. NC MedAssist thanks Kintegra Health and Davidson Medical Ministries for being collaborative partners helping to assist Cathy and others like her in the Lexington area. #dispensinghope #ncmedassist

Last week we headed to Mill Spring, NC in Polk County for a community outreach event where we connected with families of Sunny View Elementary and gave out OTC care packages. Our team distributed 155 bags with cold and flu, allergy, pain and other medications for children and adults. "We're so thankful to NC MedAssist for assisting our families," Sunny View Elementary Principal Preston Allen said. "Our families were hit hard by Hurricane Helene... we're so thankful that MedAssist came out to provide OTC medicine for our families but also to give them the opportunity to get medicine without insurance." The total value of medications distributed at Sunny View Elementary was approximately $22,000. Since the hurricane, we have distributed over $1 million worth of medicine to 170 groups and community organizations in Western NC needing assistance. Our efforts are still ongoing. If you or someone you know has been impacted by Hurricane Helene and needs assistance with acquiring medication, we're here to help. Today, we reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his enduring call for justice and equality. At NC MedAssist, we believe in fostering a sense of belonging; that everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported in their pursuit of health and well-being. By providing essential medications to uninsured North Carolinians, we aim to break down barriers and help address the disparities in healthcare access that impact so many. Together, we can create happier, more inclusive communities in which everyone feels they belong and has the opportunity to live healthier, fuller lives. #NCMedAssist #DispensingHope #MLKDay #HealthEquity
