From cutting-edge aerospace facilities to advanced manufacturing operations, the tour showcased the GTP’s role in driving innovation and economic growth in North Carolina.

At a recent North Carolina Global TransPark meeting, retired Rickard Barkes was honored with the prestigious Longleaf Pine Award. Bobby Walston, former NCDOT Aviation Director; Preston Hunter, former Executive Director; and Jeremy Stroud, current Executive Director of the North Carolina Global TransPark, , presented the award. Stroud also recognized Rick with an appreciation award for his 38 years of service to North Carolina’s aviation advancements. Thank you, Rick, for your dedication and impact on the aviation field!

Gage King has been appointed as the new Airport Director of the North Carolina Global TransPark (NCGTP), succeeding Rick Barkes, who retired on December 31, 2024. With a strong background in aviation and leadership roles across Eastern NC, including as NCGTP’s Airport Project Manager, Gage is ready to lead us into the future.
