The NC Dept. of Revenue is a Cabinet Agency under the leadership of the Secretary, the Chief Operating Officer, and five Assistant Secretaries.
Ronald G. Penny was confirmed as Secretary of NCDOR in June of 2017. He has focused building a talented and diverse staff to serve NC taxpayers.

NC DOR funds public services benefiting the people of North Carolina by administering the tax laws and collecting North Carolina taxes in an impartial, consistent, secure, and efficient manner. We are a SMART organization that: Safeguards customer information; Maintains a knowledgeable workforce; Achieves a high level of understanding and compliance; Responds with accurate information through innovative services; and Treats our customers fairly.
