Our dedicated Airmen from the North Carolina Joint Task Force have been working hard to set up and manage a mobile air traffic control tower at Rutherford County Airport in Rutherfordton, NC. At Asheville Regional Airport, they assist with the distribution of water, MREs, and other essential goods to those impacted by Helene in Western NC. While the official recognition took 3 years, it's a reminder of progress. Did you know, even though women could join the Air National Guard in 1957, it took ANG a decade to make it happen???? Yet, since then, women have not just served but thrived within the Air National Guard on a daily basis! ??
