The Trump administration is considering a plan to eliminate the CDC’s Division of HIV Prevention—a move that could upend critical public health efforts. The division is responsible for: ?? Tracking and analyzing HIV infections nationwide ?? Conducting prevention research and outreach ?? Promoting testing and PrEP access If eliminated, these responsibilities may shift to other HHS programs, but experts warn that this could severely disrupt HIV prevention efforts—potentially leading to increased HIV rates and greater financial burdens for taxpayers. We must protect the progress we’ve made in HIV prevention.

?? The Fight to End HIV is at Risk ?? There is an urgent push by the Trump administration to completely eliminate the CDC’s Division of HIV Prevention—a move that would derail decades of progress and lead to a resurgence of HIV in the U.S. ?? Prevention is a smart investment. The lifetime medical costs for one person with HIV can exceed $500,000. Cutting prevention funding will cost lives and taxpayer dollars. We need urgent action. Call your elected officials at 202-224-3121 and tell them to stop this attack on public health. #SaveHIVFunding

?? Expanding HIV Prevention & Advocacy for Black & Latina Women The Latino Commission on AIDS, North Carolina AIDS Action Network, and Southern AIDS Coalition are expanding Ella/Her, a campaign dedicated to breaking down systemic barriers to HIV prevention and care for Black and Latina women in the South. ?? Only 8% of PrEP users are women—despite women accounting for 18% of new HIV diagnoses ?? Black women make up 14% of the female population but 54% of new HIV cases among women ?? HIV-related mortality rates are 15x higher for Black women and 4x higher for Latina women than for white women Ella/Her is changing that. Through advocacy, community education, and provider engagement, we’re ensuring Black and Latina women have access to essential HIV prevention tools. ?? Join us for the Ella/Her Virtual Launch on March 25 at 3 PM ET to learn more! ?? Register now: https://buff.ly/GmbzBQP

?? Today is HIV Is Not a Crime Awareness Day! ?? In 2018, after years of advocacy, education, and community organizing, we won and secured a long-overdue update to North Carolina’s outdated HIV criminalization laws. This victory was possible because of the dedication of people living with HIV, legal experts, medical professionals, and advocates across the state. ??? Pictured here: NCAAN team members, partner organizations, and task force members on the day we WON! This was a huge step forward, but there is still so much work to do. Too many people continue to face stigma and criminalization simply for living with HIV. We won’t stop fighting until all unjust HIV laws are erased. ? Join us in the movement—HIV is NOT a crime! #HIVIsNotACrime #DecriminalizeHIV #NCPolicy #PrideAndPolicy

On MLK Day, NCAAN’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Rita McDaniel, joined an insightful panel hosted by the Coalition to End the HIV Epidemic in Durham to discuss housing as a human right. The panel highlighted how access to stable housing directly impacts the health and well-being of people living with HIV. Housing is more than shelter; it’s a foundation for thriving communities and better health outcomes. We’re proud to stand with partners fighting for dignity and equity. Follow @ehedurham and join the next coalition meeting on February 27th at Healing with CAARE. Let’s keep pushing for meaningful change. #MLKDay #HousingIsAHumanRight #EndHIV #NCAAN #DurhamNC
