The NBPLA was founded to promote the benefits of diversity and inclusion in the government affairs profession.

关于我们

The National Black Professional Lobbyists Association (NBPLA) was born out of an all too familiar experience for Black state lobbyists. An Arizona based lobbyist was aggressively pushing for his colleague in Alabama to be considered as the state lobbyist for a start-up tech company. Even though the Alabama lobbyist had nearly 20-years of experience in government affairs and represented one of the largest tech companies in the world, he was not even afforded the opportunity to present his proposal. The two lobbyists at the center of this story, Gregory Jones and John Heath, reached the conclusion that change would only occur if Black lobbyists banded together to ensure they had access to the same opportunities as their white counterparts. From there, Jones added one of the nation's most dynamic female lobbyists, Yolanda Jackson, to the conversation and within weeks, the vision for the NBPLA came into formation. March is International Women’s History Month—a time to honor trailblazers, changemakers, and those shaping the future. Today, I want to celebrate the powerful women of the National Black Professional Lobbyists Association (NBPLA) who are paving the way in advocacy, policy, and government relations. One shining example is Beauclarine Thomas, recently named to City & State’s 40 Under 40 in New York City! This recognition is a testament to her unwavering commitment to driving impact at the intersection of tech and policy. As a relatively new New Yorker, Beauclarine’s achievement is proof that dedication and hard work can create lasting change, no matter where your journey begins. Organizations like NBPLA are vital in fostering community, mentorship, and career growth. Through my own advocacy work, I’ve seen firsthand how mentorship and authentic relationships can shape a career and a movement. The wisdom shared by seasoned professionals in lobbying, government affairs, and advocacy is invaluable, but it’s the deep friendships and support networks that make the biggest impact. Let’s continue to build, advocate, and ignite change—because when we lift as we climb, we create a legacy that lasts. #InternationalWomensHistoryMonth #NBPLA #Lobbying #Advocacy #GovernmentRelations #MovementMaker #FindYourFire #BeTheLight
