In 2023, American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) established a Guideline Development Group (GDG) comprising 20 multidisciplinary members, including representatives from the Health & Wellness Coaching field through the leadership of the NBHWC. Moain Abu Dabrh, MBBCh, MS, NBC-HWC represented NBHWC as subject-matter expert, with Ruth Q. Wolever, PhD, NBC-HWC and Jocelyn Weiss, PhD, MPH, NBC-HWC participating as external HWC peer stakeholder and expert reviewers. Their efforts were facilitated by Jessica Matthews, DBH, NBC-HWC, DipACLM, FACLM, NBHWC's interim Executive Director and current Board Chair. This multidisciplinary initiative led by ACLM highlights the integral role of Lifestyle Medicine, and the crucial support provided by Health & Wellness Coaches in managing type 2 diabetes. The American College of Lifestyle Medicine hosted a special presentation on the development of the first “clinical practice guidelines for Lifestyle Interventions for Type 2 Diabetes and Prediabetes in adults” during their exciting #LM2024 conference and 20th?anniversary meeting this past October in Orlando, FL. We would like to thank ACLM leadership for pioneering this work.
