The Committee on Qualifications for Inspection (CQI) convened today and Tuesday in Tucson, Arizona, to discuss industry standards and accreditation guidelines. Led by Chair Tom Clark, Chief Boiler Inspector for Oregon, and Secretary Milton Washington, the committee addressed multiple inquiries and reviewed proposed revisions to key documents, including NB-263, RCI-1, Rules for Commissioned Inspectors, and other accreditation-related National Board guidelines. The spring edition of the BULLETIN features an article on the revisions to the 2025 edition of NB-263, RCI-1, which becomes mandatory July 1. The Boiler & Pressure Vessel Repair Seminar (RO) is underway! Greg Goossens, Director of Jurisdictional Affairs, and Eben Creaser, Chief Inspector for New Brunswick and a National Board BOT member at large, represented NBBI at the International Pressure Equipment Integrity Association (IPEIA) conference on Feb. 25-27 at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper, Alberta. Canadian Chiefs Chris Selinger (Saskatchewan) and Djordje Srnic (Alberta) also attended. Eben (right) participated in the Small Modular Reactor Panel Discussion, and Djordje (left) delivered a presentation titled “Implementation of the Latest CSA B51 and B52 Editions.” This event fostered valuable discussions and insights promoting safety and reliability in the pressure equipment industry.
